I pretty much pride myself on my steps to enhance my level of personal development and sharpen my saw. I am constantly in a search for new resources that can help me become more successful and ultimately live a more fulfilled life.

We all fall short in certain areas and sometimes when you invest so much energy in one aspect of your life, another area actually suffers because of it.

Let’s face it. Life is not perfect or fair and sometimes things just don’t go the way you had planned. Because I am so determined to improve my life, I take whatever steps are necessary to do so and when things wouldn’t go as I had planned, I wouldn’t really know how to deal with it.

I would become stressed to the point that I would have shortness of breath, headaches and at times, even pains in my chest.

Here’s what was basically taking place in my body. Stress was living dormant within me. At times, it would rear its ugly head. I was always reading, listening to mp3’s, watching DVDs, attending seminars, etc. to sharpen my saw.

I would begin a new project or challenge in my life and in the beginning it would either be difficult or get easier or vice versa.

In any case, anything that is truly worth your time, energy and money in life may not always be easy and at some point regardless of how easily we took on a certain challenge, we always reach a point where we encounter obstacles.

The difference between those who succeed and those fail is those who succeed have the persistence and determination to overcome the obstacles and keep going.

I on the other hand, was allowing my stress levels to increase and obstruct my ability to keep on going. Ultimately, the stress of things not going as planned was hindering my chances of success, leading me toward failure and causing me to become more stressed.

It was a viscous cycle. I knew that I needed to figure out how to mange my stress. So I began searching for ways to do so in the form of self-improvement resources just as I have done with everything else.

I would say that I went through a good dozen or so products on stress management and of those, about ½ actually worked……temporarily.

I would get my stress under control for a little while and then I would become stressed again when unexpected circumstances would arise. I was simply controlling the problem without actually getting rid of it.

Simply put, the resources that I was using were band-aid approaches rather than actual solutions. The problem at hand was always present and just being temporarily restrained rather than corrected.
