Being the self-improvement junkie that I am, I’m constantly trying to absorb knowledge from different resources. One of my favorite things to do is read.
I find that a good book with valuable content always has a better impact on my life than say tapes or videos. I try to read whenever I have free time. Sometimes, I can find myself immersed for hours wrapped up in an interesting book.
Where I always seemed to run into trouble was if the book wasn’t 100 percent interesting all the time or if I had other things on my mind. If either of those two things happens, I’m doomed. I might as well take the book I’m attempting to read and throw it right in the trash.
Here’s a typical scenario. I buy a book about a particular strategy of stock investing. The first couple of chapters are great. They talk about why the strategy is different than other strategies and how if it’s done correctly, it can be very lucrative.
Then it gets even more interesting when the author begins to explain exactly how the strategy works. I can’t even think of putting the book down.
Then just when I’m completely wrapped up in the reading, the author begins talking about numbers. Things like earnings per share, pe ratios, equity, return on capital, etc. Now math has never been my area of strength. I’ve always been more of an English or writing student.
The minute he starts talking about numbers my concentration, interest, focus and learning ability completely disappear. I keep trying to read even though my mind is in a totally other place.
Eventually, I even start getting a headache. I put the book down and never pick it up again. I waste my money on the book and my time reading it.
This happened a few different times with a few different books. Every time an author would dive into an area of subject matter which I did not understand or wasn’t interested in, he would lose me forever.
I began to see the pattern that was taking place and wanted to figure out exactly what was going on. And eventually, I did.
What I realized was that I needed to improve my ability to concentrate. That in itself was the first step that I needed to take. Because perhaps if I did years ago, I would have had a better understanding a of mathematic principles and thus been better at math.
In turn, anytime I came across reading involving math, I could engage myself in it rather than lose all forms of focus.
I also realized that this same pattern had taken place in other areas of my life. At that point I decided to do something about it. I set out to find the best resource available on improving concentration.
After a few weeks of searching, I cam across Gardar Gardarsson’s best selling program on exactly that: Improving concentration.
Like most great inventors and entrepreneur Gardar was a man with an obstacle which he set out to overcome. And in the process of learning and equipping himself with knowledge, came up with a better, more efficient, method of improving one’s concentration.
First off, this book is based on scientific research, not the opinions of some self proclaimed know it all. Gardar has thoroughly researched the principles in this great piece of reading and further improved upon them.
The result is the Focus Power Program Package
