Out of control spending can be helped by hypnosis. Many people buy things they just don’t need. This is because shopping for them gives them the same kind of “high” that runners experience after a good run or smokers get from relaxing with a cigarette. If you are one of these people, who buy things just for the sake of shopping, then hypnosis can help you change your motives and get the same good feeling from other activities.
Shopping on its own is not a bad thing. It is in fact a necessity. If you are not sure if you are an out of control shopper, take this little quiz:
- Do you shop more than two or three times per week?
- Do you shop when you are feeling depressed or something has upset you?
- Do you shop by looking around for something you can buy – instead of shopping with an idea of what you are looking for?
- Do you shop even when you don’t have enough money to buy anything?
- Do you get home and feel bad about having spent too much money?
- Do you have a closet full of clothes with the tags still on them or items still in the boxes?
If you can answer “yes” to at least three of these questions, you could have a problem controlling your spending and a problem for which hypnosis can help. Hypnosis helps organize thoughts by relaxing the mind and body so the more rational thoughts are in the forefront. For example, the subconscious urge to spend money even when you don’t need something, can through hypnosis be replaced by the logical sequence that tells you, “is this something I need or simple want” and “Am I buying this just for the sake of shopping, even though I don’t really want it.”
Clinical Hypnotherapist, Steve G. Jones, utilizes the best self hypnosis techniques in his CD, Control Spending to train the mind to receive the same satisfaction shopping brings without spending money.
